I went to CVS last night to ravage the makeup aisle as per usual when something caught my eye in the Milani section. Look at these beauties! I don’t know if they’re brand new or just new to my CVS, but I had never seen them before.
Milani blushes are always a good choice, as they’re pigmented and soft and not too chalky when compared to a lot of the other drugstore options. Luminoso, a blush from their permanent line, is kind of a cult-favorite in the beauty world.
These matte blushes are GORGEOUS. They have the classic Milani packaging in gold with a clear lid,ΓΒ which I think is so pretty and fancy. They are larger than the permanent Milani blushes. At .6 oz of product, there is more product in each of these blushes than most of the other blushes I own, drugstore or high end. Inside, there is a beautiful imprint of a rose. It isn’t superficial so it won’t wear off over time…it is really carved out deeply into the blush. This is such a beautiful touch that makes this drugstore blush appear high-end.
The three colors I tried (I believe there are eight total, but my CVS only sold three of them) were super pigmented. I rarely say this with drugstore blushes, but you really need to use a light hand and build up the color gradually. When I first applied Tea Rose, I ended up having to buff it out with some regular face powder because I went waaay too hard in the paint with it.
As for texture, they’re very soft. There is a hint of chalkiness if you push too hard when swatching, but that doesn’t really make a difference when you’re applying lightly with a brush directly onto your cheeks. I think the permanent Milani blushes may be a bit more finely milled, but it isn’t that noticeable when you’re actually wearing them.
The three colors I got are…
Tea Rose: a cool, mid-pink tone. This is my favorite on my skintone (NC15-20, depending on the time of year). It doesn’t pull too bright or baby pink or cool to be used on warmer, darker skin, but it’s a nice pop of color a la Zooey Deschanel in New Girl.
- Swatch and then blended out
Romantic Rose: a dusty, mauve-y, mid-tone rose pink. This is a great neutral blush that will suit a range of skintones. It’s the most understated color in the collection, but still absolutely gorgeous.
- Romantic Rose
- Swatched and then blended out
Coral Cove: a bright, borderline neon coral. I think this color is going to look AMAZING on darker, yellow or olive skin tones, like NW35+ would look INCREDIBLE in this. It’s pretty bright but blends out nicely, so lighter skintones can wear it as well if they use it sparingly.

BOTTOM LINE
I am a huge fan of these blushes, and for the price and size I think they are a steal at $7.99! If you like matte blushes and pretty roses, go get these!
I’m in the process of finding my next blush because I’ve had my ones for so long that I know they’ll run out eventually! That tea rose shade is so pretty~
