Besides working as a makeup artist, I also do eyelash extensions. I spend a ton of time [happily] answering questions about what they are, how they work, and pros and cons. So much so, that I narrowed down the top 10 pieces of information I think you should know before getting lash extensions, or to make the ones you currently have even better!
Here’s a summary (though you should watch the video for full details on each point):
- Lash extensions are NOT the same as strip or cluster fake eyelashes, they are semi-permanent glued on one-by-one.
- The look is completely customizable — as natural or glamorous as you want.
- Be reasonable with what you expect the results to look like.
- Eyelash extensions last 2-5 weeks.
- Two “steps” of getting lash extensions: a full set and fills.
- Properly applied and maintained lashes will not cause noticeable damage.
- There is maintenance required to keep lashes looking good and lasting long.
- Find and book a good stylist — don’t go the frugal route.
- If you don’t like them/can’t afford them/don’t maintain them, have a professional removal.
- The lash extension process is painless.
