I have to admit, I love a good shirt, skirt, or dress with animal print – and not leopard animal print, but prints of whole animals like pandas or cats. One time I tried on a dress from Anthropologie that was the most flattering silhouette, but once it was on it looked like something I’d worn as a little kid just blown up to adult size. And that is the trouble with animal prints: they often look so whimsical and cute on the rack and then childish once tried on. As such, I’ve learned to keep a very critical eye when I come across one.
Today’s shirt is one of the good ones though. Or at least I think so! You know those days when you go to a store like Forever21 or H&M and literally nothing out of the 20 pieces you lugged around for an hour fit? This was the opposite of that – one of those days where I had to take a few minutes to really sort out what I would keep from the clothes I had tried on because they all fit and looked great.
So naturally I bought them all. Whoops.
Among them were two of my favorite clothing purchases over the last couple months: a chic-yet-boho mini skirt with maxi overlay and a blouse with…wait for it…MOTHERFREAKING GIRAFFES.
(I love giraffes if you can’t tell.)

I would NEVER kill an animal for fur and don’t agree with doing so in modern times, but to wear a mink stole or fox jacket from the 1940s is an entirely unreal experience that I can’t even put into words. Not to mention that Grammy let me keep the stole! Like WHAT?! Ugh. Now I’m just envisioning long walks around NYC and Paris in the winter with my mink stole…looks like I have some flights to book soon.
