[REVIEW] DERMAdoctor Ain’t Misbehavin Acne Serum

It is really really rare that I find an acne product that I like. My skin is too sensitive for anything too harsh or drying, but just using an acne cleanser isn’t enough to keep my pimples at bay. I picked this DERMAdoctor Ain’t Misbehavin’ serum up on a total whim while at Sephora (I didn’t look at reviews or anything *gasp*) and lucked out so hard! It has seriously transformed my skin.

The whole reason I bought it was because my skin had been freaking. the. f. out. recently. I had five or six active pimples at one time (which is a lot for me — I take good care of my skin!) and numerous really small whiteheads that looked gross even when covered with makeup because they made my skin look bumpy and rough. Years ago I owned a mask from the same DERMAdoctor acne line and really liked it, so I figured this would probably work, too.

I looked up reviews when I got home and was pretty pleased with my choice — Ain’t Misbehavin’ has 4.5 stars! And here’s why: after a week or two of pretty terrible purging (more on that here), my skin is so soft and smooth and I have not ONE active pimple.

Ain’t Misbehavin’ is formulated with salicylic acid, which is perfect for me because it’s strong but not as harsh as some of those products that have 10% benzoyl peroxide. (When I use those, I end up with peeling flaky skin that is red and itchy.) I started off using this nightly in conjunction with a gentle cleanser and moisturizer. It comes with a pump so you get a consistent amount of product each time, and the texture is really light and disappears quickly into the skin; none of that gunky, greasy, gross feeling product to be found around here!

While purging for a couple weeks, each morning I woke up with a couple new zits, which is a good thing. After two weeks, I woke up to just some flat red marks where old zits had been and zero new acne. Now, my skin feels (and looks) incredibly smooth due to the exfoliating nature of the salicylic acid and I have yet to find any new pimples!

It is a bit pricy at $48.00, but I really don’t think you can put a price on confidence like this product has given me. I feel like a new person!
